Commitment to Quality and Food Safety

Food safety is one of our highest priorities.  We track products by lot codes and, through our traceability systems, can identify the origin of our fruit.  Management also has a formal recall procedure and runs unannounced drills to test the readiness in case of a product recall.  We are audited frequently, and independent third-party auditors have certified these processes. . High Standards of Social and Environmental Awareness

We take our responsibility to the environment seriously. Chiquita is committed to preserving the environment through enlightened agricultural and ecological practices, and sponsorship of much needed conservation projects and wildlife studies. We actively fund and implement programs to protect the environment where we operate and encourage our independent banana growers to achieve the same standards. Our wide-ranging programs include reforestation, rainforest conservation, soil erosion, biodiversity, water quality and waste programs. Chiquita also works with independent international conservation groups, including the Rainforest Alliance, Conservation International, and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), to improve general standards of banana production.
